Supervised by/Reports to: Facilities and Maintenance Director and Supervisor

Job Goals:
- To provide outstanding plumbing services in the care and operation of school system facilities, structures and equipment.
- To assist in maintaining school system facilities to provide supportive work and learning environments
Qualifications:
- High school or trade school diploma or GED certificate
- Five (5) years of experience in plumbing repairs or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Journeyman’s license preferred.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of National Plumbing Code and other appropriate trade standards.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals.
- Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project completion.
- Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights.
- Ability to engage in prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching.
- Physical strength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability exert up to 75 pounds of force.
- Ability to work in locations involving heights or confined spaces.
- Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded environments, and inclement weather.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternatives to the qualifications above as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Performs plumbing tasks in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and drainage systems.
- Makes general repairs to existing installations of water, waste disposal, sewer plants, lift stations, and other pluming installations.
- Installs plumbing systems in buildings.
- Replaces, cleans and makes repairs to flush valves and faucets.
- Removes stoppage from sewer lines.
- Cuts, seams and threads pipes.
- Inspects sanitary and other plumbing installations for needed repairs.
- Prepares estimates of materials and time needed to complete a repair or installation.
- Cuts, fits and seals plastic pipe.
- Maintains accurate inventories of supplies and equipment assigned to service truck.
- Maintains accurate and timely records of time, labor and materials.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment needed to carry out assignments and perform duties.
- Keeps service truck washed as needed and serviced at intervals established by the Transportation Department.
- Completes work orders indicating accurate time, materials and cost to complete the job.
- Completes work order assignments without close supervision, efficiently and neatly; completes all projects in compliance with trade standards.
- Prioritizes tasks and uses time wisely.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Supervisors and other personnel.

- Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position in accordance with the Board’s salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Baldwin County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
