Job Summary
The District-Wide Paraeducator plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing student learning across various grade levels and special education settings. This position involves working closely with students, including those with disabilities, to foster a positive educational environment. The paraeducator assists with lesson implementation, classroom management, and individualized student support, ensuring all students have access to quality education. This is a paid position dedicated to promoting inclusive learning experiences and supporting student development.
Duties
- Aide teachers in preparing and reproducing student material, and checking student work
- Aide classroom teacher in carrying out individual student's educational programs
- Supervise and aid student(s) bus arrival and departure at school; ride bus with student when needed (fieldtrips)
- Perform minor clerical duties, which could include typing, filing, using copy machine and computers
- Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Perform daily living skills activities such as feeding, cathing, suctioning, diapering, etc.
- Perform maneuvering activities such as transferring, lifting, etc.
- Attend class with the student(s)
- Provide some tutorial assistance to the student(s)
- Work with individual and/or small groups of students in development and reinforcement of skills or behavioral management
- Administer minor First-Aid
- Other related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Experience working with children.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Ability to assist with lesson planning and curriculum development tailored for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work well within a team setting while supporting individual student needs.
- Demonstrated patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with children of varying abilities and backgrounds.
