In-House Litigation Attorney – MCA Collections & Commercial Litigation

BizFund LLC is a growing alternative finance company operating across multiple markets. We're seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Litigation Attorney to work with our chief legal officer on legal strategy for recovering delinquent merchant cash advance (MCA) accounts and protect the company's financial interests.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney to take real ownership of a docket, gain hands-on litigation experience, and grow within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial legal department working directly alongside our CLO
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of litigation related to MCA collections — filing suit, drafting pleadings and motions, discovery, and coordinating with local/external counsel across multiple markets
- Develop and implement recovery strategies for delinquent accounts consistent with applicable commercial finance and debt-collection regulations
- Manage a busy, active docket from intake through resolution
- Negotiate settlements and payment resolutions with merchants and their counsel
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for resolution
- Maintain detailed, confidential records of collection activity, legal proceedings, and communications
- Collaborate with internal finance, servicing, and compliance teams to keep legal and financial procedures aligned
- Stay current on state and federal regulations governing commercial finance, UCC enforcement, and debt-collection practices
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice and in good standing with the New York State Bar (required)
- 1 year of litigation experience preferred; collections or MCA/commercial-finance experience a strong plus
- Strong legal writing, negotiation, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage a high volume of matters and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfort with account reconciliation and financial/case-management software
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while managing multiple matters efficiently
- Comfortable working in-office from our Brooklyn, NY location
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000–$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience
