We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Foreman to lead asphalt paving crews and oversee daily field operations on roadway, paving, and civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crew leadership, production planning, quality control, safety compliance, and the successful completion of asphalt paving work. This individual must possess strong leadership skills, extensive paving experience, and the ability to operate and supervise the use of paving equipment while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Lead, supervise, train, and mentor asphalt paving crew members.
- Perform and oversee all crew-related duties, including operation of paving equipment.
- Coordinate daily paving activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Monitor crew productivity, material usage, and equipment performance.
- Review project plans, specifications, and work schedules prior to commencing work.
- Maintain and enforce quality control standards on all paving operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct daily hazard analyses and communicate safety expectations to all crew members.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and post-incident training sessions as required.
- Identify and resolve field issues that could impact project schedules, production, or quality.
- Complete and maintain daily reports, including job progress logs, production reports, timesheets, equipment records, and project photographs.
- Submit equipment maintenance requests, damage reports, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Investigate, document, and report accidents in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor and maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and construction equipment.
- Train crew members on proper equipment operation, maintenance, and shutdown procedures.
- Communicate effectively with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and crew members.
- Report and address jobsite hazards immediately.
- Attend required training, certifications, and continuing education programs.
- Troubleshoot and assist with maintenance of paving and heavy construction equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of asphalt paving experience.
- At least two (2) years of experience in a leadership, lead operator, or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving methods, materials, and equipment.
- Experience operating asphalt paving equipment, including pavers and related machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- OSHA certifications or other construction safety training.
- Experience in roadway, site development, or civil construction projects.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends when project schedules require.
