Job Summary:
Colorado Politics (COPO)
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Policy Reporter / Intelligence Analyst to join a growing media and nonpartisan information organization covering state government and public policy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legislative environment and has a passion for delivering timely, actionable insights to a professional audience.
This position will be embedded at the Colorado state capitol during the legislative session and will play a key role in tracking policy developments, identifying emerging trends, and communicating meaningful updates to subscribers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor legislative activity in real time, including hearings, floor action, and committee proceedings
- Produce a daily updates summarizing key developments and policy movement
- Identify and report on emerging legislative trends and noteworthy activity
- Maintain strong situational awareness of the political and policy landscape
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information delivery
- Contribute to ongoing coverage and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in journalism, public policy, government, or a related field preferred
- Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information quickly
- Familiarity with legislative processes (state-level experience preferred)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience covering state government or working in and around a legislature
- Background in political reporting, policy analysis, or government affairs, or similar
- Existing familiarity with Colorado politics is a plus

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
