Maintenance Technician
About the Role:
Shift: The anticipated regular work schedule is [2nd Shift / Monday to Friday / 3pm to 11:30pm] - Additional days or overtime as required to complete the daily demands
Main Purpose:
Repairs, Installs and maintains facilities, production equipment and production support systems such as ice cream freezers, filling machines, conveyors, Shrink-wraps, boilers, compressors and the ammonia refrigeration system.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
- Troubleshoot & repair power drives and pneumatics
- PLC experience a plus
- Ability to pass a HAZMAT physical
- Prepares requisitions for materials/parts required to complete work orders
- Creates work orders, closes them when complete, and accounts for time spent on tasks in our computerized Maintenance Management SystemExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Supports the production of safe, high quality products and team member safety
- Complies with all safety & GMP regulations
- Follows all company rules, policies and procedures
- Maintains membership and training in the company emergency response team as outlined by OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZMAT)
- Must be forklift certified or obtain the qualification within the probationary period
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Availability to work a variable schedule on occasion to cover other team member time off
What We’re Looking For:
Please read below requirements and check off all the tasks/procedures/deliverables you can perform. In order to receive an interview for this position, ALL of the below requirements must be met:
- NYS union apprenticeship or 2-year degree in technical discipline. Military schooling and/or "megatronics" type school is acceptable, or a verifiable trade school.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance position.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to push, pull, climb, and squat, bend frequently throughout the shift
- Perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and with decimals and fractions
- Perform basic measurements (tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers)
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Physically able to wear a respirator and maintain a Hazmat certification
- Basic computer keyboarding skills & touchscreen technology
- Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools
- Able to work at heights using ladders, platforms or mechanical lifts using OSHA required fall protection
- Can work in temperatures ranging from -30F to 120F
- Tolerance of variable work environment both indoor and outdoor in conditions that vary based on location and season
- Capable of reading blue prints and schematics
- Basic proficiency with electrical meters/multi meters
- Familiarity with the Basics of Fluid Control (such as pumps)
- Able to handle chemicals, paints, solvents and exposure to environmental allergens
In addition, these requirements are applicable to each job type (Mechanical, Electrical, or Refrigeration). You will be evaluated based on your skill sets in one of the following areas:
For Mechanical:
- Basic mechanical skills for machine disassembly and reassembly
- Metal fabrication
- Proficient with mechanical equipment (including lathes, mill, drill press, saws, grinders)
- Pipe fitting
- Capable of burning and welding (MIG/TIG/Stick)
- Troubleshoot & repair power drives and pneumatics.
For Refrigeration:
- Proficient with refrigeration equipment (including gauges, vacuum pumps)
- CARO or CIRO Certification preferred
- Stationary Engineers License preferred.
- Demonstrable experience with steam plant operations
- Refrigerant pipe fitting
For Electrical:
- Experience with electrical control circuits and power up to 480v 3 phase
- Experience with meggers/motor testing
- Able to draw basic electrical circuits
- Capable of reading electrical diagrams.
- Conduit running and bending
- Familiar with NEC codes and the codebook.
- Able to troubleshoot electrical/electronic control circuits.
- PLC experience a plus.

Base Pay Rate: $33.81 hour
Shift Differential: $.50 / hour
HAZMAT Premium: $1.25 / hour
