Our client is searching for a corporation litigation paralegal that has Chancery court experience. A plaintiff-side paralegal in Chancery Court manages the logistical and administrative lifecycle of equitable lawsuits (such as contract disputes, trusts and estates, or corporate breakups). They draft initial pleadings and discovery requests, organize large volumes of evidence, track court deadlines, and assist attorneys during hearings.
Duration: 3-5 months
Location: Remote
Pay: $34 an hour
Because chancery courts handle "equity" (fairness, injunctions, and specific performance) rather than just monetary damages, the work is highly document-intensive. Core duties include:
- Case Intake & Investigation: Interviewing clients to gather facts, drafting complaints, and running background and asset checks on the opposing party.
- Discovery & Document Management: Drafting interrogatories and document requests, reviewing financial and business records for relevance, and preparing indices of evidence.
- Motion Practice & Briefing: Drafting routine motions (e.g., to compel), supporting affidavits, and trial briefs for the attorney to review.
- Hearing & Trial Support: Preparing and organizing hearing binders, managing trial exhibits, and coordinating witness schedules.
- Deadline Tracking: Closely monitoring court schedules and procedural rules, which are strictly enforced in chancery proceedings.
If you are looking to prepare for a specific role or case type, I can provide more targeted information if you tell me:
- What type of chancery case (e.g., corporate litigation, trust dispute, real estate) you are working on.
- If you need help understanding local procedures (like e-filing).
