Reports To: Executive Director
SUMMARY
The Fund Development and Communications Director implements fund development plan and oversees communications work with the goal of growing annual giving, building sustainable revenue sources, and raising awareness of BPFC, its programs and impact. Major activities include oversight of donor and stakeholder engagement, major gifts, fundraising plan development, fundraising events, and overseeing communications. The Director supports the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and committees with fundraising guidance, communications, revenue reporting and forecasting. They also supervise the Communications and Outreach Coordinator.
BPFC has an annual operating budget of $10 million. The primary focus of fundraising is on individual giving. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of an annual fund development plan.
- Design and execute donor cultivation and stewardship
- Connect with the Board of Directors, donors, and prospects to match opportunities to their passions and interests
- Plan and facilitate major donor meetings in collaboration with the Executive Director and/or board members
- Support for grant applications and reporting, in collaboration with Executive Director and program staff
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board members and staff to reinforce a culture of philanthropy and enhance donor engagement
- Plan fundraising appeals and campaigns, including Giving Tuesday, Give Local, and others as needed to achieve Annual Campaign goal (currently $120,000)
- Cultivate and steward corporate sponsors for events and programs
- Manage our online giving platform (FundraiseUp) and customer relationship management (CRM) software (Bloomerang)
- Explore new or additional funding sources, major donor prospects and trends
- Plan and implement fundraising events
- Plan Fund Development Committee meetings, recruit new members, and manage committee work
- Update the Fund Development Plan results monthly for Executive Committee and Board meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Communications
- Contribute to a monthly e-newsletter, produced by Communications and Outreach Coordinator
- Contribute to BPFC’s Annual Impact Report
- Perform other duties as assigned
Community Events and Outreach
- Support Communications and Outreach Manager to plan and implement annual Kids Fest
- Contribute to other organizational and partner events as needed
Leadership Team
- Support organization-wide planning and initiatives as an active member of the Leadership Team
QUALIFICATIONS
This job is ideal for someone who can work independently and enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and is passionate about BPFC’s mission, values, and guiding principles.
Education & Experience
- Experience in fundraising, developing donor relationships, communications, and supervision
- 5 years of experience in fundraising required and 3 years of experience in communications or marketing preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an equivalent of six years of professional experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and experience with CRM database systems, and online giving platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative atmosphere with a diverse group of staff, board, and community members.
- Good judgment and confidentiality in communications.
- Demonstrated track record of building donor relationships, working collaboratively, strategically and with integrity.
- Strong knowledge of principles, ethics, and practices of successful fundraising.
- Knowledge of funding sources and community resources available to support the work of BPFC.
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in oral and written communication on an interpersonal and group level.
- Ability to prepare for and facilitate effective meetings.
- Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and other technical resources to effectively accomplish work; proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other office-related computer use.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
