PEARLS for Teen Girls is improving quality of life and strengthening our community one girl at a time by empowering young women and gender-expansive youth with self-development tools, guidance and support to strive for better, brighter futures by living out the PEARLS values: Personal Responsibility, Empathy, Awareness, Respect, Leadership and Support.
Position Overview: Program Coordinators are skilled, trained and caring near-peer individual who, through youth-adult partnerships, facilitate experiential activities in a girl and gender-inclusive safe space. PEARLS groups gather to talk, to be heard, to express fear, joy and anger, to dream bigger, to explore the world around them, and to build trust. Program Coordinators are trained Mandated Reporters and follow HIPAA-compliance who are responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of PEARLS programming, curriculum, and related activities – ensuring program objectives and outcomes are met. Program Coordinators work in collaboration with site points, school leadership, community partners and other youth serving organizations to provide the girls with as many positive experiences and opportunities as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation & Facilitation – (approx. 50%)
- Design and implement weekly group sessions using the PEARLS curriculum (up to 7 per week).
- Collaborate with Teen Facilitators, Associate Program Coordinators, and Interns to co-facilitate group activities.
- Ensure sessions align with PEARLS’ programming objectives and outcomes.
- Facilitate curricula including: Sexual health, STD, and pregnancy prevention, Harm reduction and violence prevention.
- Provide individual check-ins and goal-focused advising using best practices in positive youth development.
- Celebrate girls’ accomplishments in creative and meaningful ways.
- Review programming metrics and analyze trends to improve implementation and outcomes.
- Participate in training and professional development related to funded-curricula
- Substitute for group sessions as needed
Youth Goal Support & Case Management
- Support girls in setting and achieving SMART goals through:
o One-on-one advising
o Ongoing check-ins
o Case management
o Quarterly progress assessments
- Provide support and resources related to:
o Secondary and post-secondary education
o Tutoring and academic enrichment
o Career exploration
College & Career Readiness (CCR)
- Plan and deliver CCR lessons using PEARLS’ curriculum.
- Advise participants on:
oHigh school selection
oCollege applications, scholarships, and financial aid
oCareer planning and readiness
- Track and document student progress toward post-secondary and high school goals.
- Serve as a resource to students, families, and staff on college readiness.
- Chaperone college/career field trips and other special opportunities.
- Participate in training and professional development related to CCR.
Relationship Building & Recruitment
- Partner with site staff and community organizations to recruit and retain girls in programming.
- Work collaboratively with PEARLS staff and participants to support high attendance and successful events.
- Establish and maintain regular meeting cadences with site staff to provide program updates, share group progress, and collaboratively address participant needs.
- Leverage site staff support to reinforce PEARLS expectations and follow up on girl behavior, attendance, and engagement as needed.
- Assist in planning and supervising field trips and special events.
- Prepare and share monthly site reports that include recruitment and attendance numbers, goal-setting progress, and key programming themes. Use these reports to keep site staff informed, highlight successes, and identify areas for collaborative support and improvement.
Data, Evaluation & Reporting - (approx. 30%)
- Track programming data and trends related to:
o Attendance
o Goal progress
o Group size/retention
o Parent Agreement Contracts submitted
- Enter accurate and timely data using PEARLS’ prescribed methods.
- Use data to drive program improvement and growth strategies.
Administrative & Organizational Responsibilities - (approx. 20%)
- Participate in hiring, training, assessment, and peer evaluation of Teen Facilitators, APCs, and interns.
- Manage programming-related budgets (activities, materials, resources).
- Actively contribute to at least one inter-departmental committees and initiatives per semester
- Support program documentation and continuous improvement of the PEARLS model
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or associates degree plus two years of youth work and/or group facilitation experience or high school diploma plus 5 years of youth work and/or group facilitation experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized and able to meet deadlines for reporting, record keeping, and documenation.
- Ability to manage multiple takss and project with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Knowledge of the theories of adolescent development and of family and social interactions.
- Knowledge of community resources for families and adolescents.
- Knowledge of mandated reporting.
- Ability to navigate and guide youth through sensitive situations.
- Ability and desire to serve as a positive role model within the community and program participants.
- Must be able to respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Must possess valid driver's license and personal auto insurance.
