JOB PURPOSE:
Assists in Supervising all drydocking and undocking operations while ensuring the safety of personnel, ship being docked, and the safe operation of the dry docks at all times.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures compliance with appropriate Company, EPA, OSHA, and USCG regulations.
Ensures maintenance and associated record keeping of the floating dry dock and marine railways.
Plans and executes safe drydocking evolutions and vessel launchings.
Maintains positive stability of all vessels under company control.
Plans and schedules manpower, material, and equipment.
Trains personnel in the various aspects of dry dock operation and maintenance.
Supervises personnel assigned during vessel drydocking evolutions, vessel launching, vessel movements, dry dock maintenance, and preparations for aforementioned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience.
Skilled in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
Successfully completed a drydocking training course by DM Consulting, or similar.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of MIL-STD 1625 series, NAVSHIPS Technical Manual, Chapter 997, and Facility Certification Reports.
Knowledge of docking procedures, ship handling, and ship design
Proficient in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and ability to read AutoCAD
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid
geometry, trigonometry and
