The Financial Institutions Division of the Regulation and Licensing Department licenses and regulates financial entities within its jurisdiction, promotes a safe and sound financial and economic environment, and safeguards consumer rights.

Why does the job exist?
The Licensing Specialist (LS) is responsible for processing and maintenance of license applications and/or registration packages for various industries regulated by the Financial Institutions Division.
How does it get done?
The LS's primary job assignments are as follows: process and maintain new and renewal applications; efficiently manage and maintain the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and other licensing databases; maintain a current and useful roster, mailing list, and filing system for assigned industries; maintain excellent written and oral communication via correspondence, telephone, email, and other forms of communication; and provide administrative support with the main phone line.

Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT), and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Occasional travel may be required.
