New Horizons Credit Union's history offers a unique story of progress and growth. Our story begins in 1950 when we were known as Scott Southern Division Employees Credit Union and soon after - simply Scott Credit Union and our core field of membership were the Scott Paper Company employees and their families.
As the years progressed and industries changed - the Credit Union was flexible enough to change with the times and opened up its field of membership to include more of the Mobile and surrounding communities. The Credit Union did this while keeping true to its Mission to offer financial solutions for every phase of our members' lives.
SUMMARY: Responsible for providing an exemplary member service experience which fully exceeds the member’s expectations. Initiates direct contact with new and existing members and offers a complete array of products and services which are provided based on member’s individual financial needs. Loan Officers are expected to act and dress professionally at all times, conduct business ethically, avoid conflicts of interest and act in the best interest of members and New Horizons Credit Union.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Submit all loans through Centralized Underwriting; ensure loan agreements and documentation are complete and accurate according to Credit Union policy and applicable regulations.
· Creates solutions in order to overcome obstacles during the member application process.
· Provides timely and professional follow up with all in process loan applications and ensures approved loan closing deadlines are met and coordinated proactively with the member.
· Uses Daily Calendar effectively and establishes preset appointments, delivers quality, identifies financial needs by having in depth communication with member, makes recommendations and follow’s up.
· Ensures that all individual loan volume and ancillary product goals are met/exceeded each month.
· Meets or exceeds all established activity goals (face to face appointments, voice to voice calls, etc.) in order to drive sales and referral results.
· Engages in outbound calling and needs assessment as assigned by the Branch Manager, generates qualified referrals for alternative products, channels and others lines of business in order to meet goals.
· Develops strong partnership with Mortgage Center in order to deepen relationship with members.
· Scan and images loan documentation within 3 business days of loan closing for timely collateral perfection and Post- Closing review requirements.
· Partners with all Loan Operation support teams to ensure compliance, quality internal controls, operational policy, lending support procedures, and risk management standards are being met.
· Meets with local schools, businesses, and attends local community events in a defined branch area on a weekly basis and identifies opportunities for new relationships in order to generate business within the branch. Provides weekly Business Call Report to VP of Lending and VP of Operations.
· Ensures that all public relations activities and internal projects support short and long-term objectives of the Credit Union.
GENERAL DUTIES:
· Retains and develops relationships with new and existing members.
· Works supportively with the Vice President of Lending in order to provide a high energy sales and service culture including active participation in consumer lending initiatives, product implementation, loan programs, sales goals, collateral perfection, timely imaging, exception clearing and all lending compliance requirements are followed timely and appropriately.
· Complete transactions according to established guidelines and procedures.
· Provide account servicing and maintenance and assist with problem resolution for members in accordance with all established procedures and regulations.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls and operational policies and procedures for consumer lending.
· Participates with on-going education of New Horizon products and services.
· Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred or two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with Windows based applications and Symitar preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group settings to members, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, interest, dividend and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to accurately perform detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to analyze and resolve problem situations with Members and staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with officials, coworkers, examiners, auditors and members.
