Job Overview
We are a Five star licensed childcare center, seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing learning environment, creative and intentional lessons following our curriculum and state guidelines, and guiding both students and fellow educators to foster academic and social growth. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives through innovative teaching strategies and personalized support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including approaches to play and learning, emotional, social, health, physical, language, and cognitive developments.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and create a positive learning environment.
- Maintain cleanliness in classrooms, while adhering to daily listed appropriate cleaning duties.
- Maintain a clean driving record to safely transport children in 15 passenger van.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of children with autism, disabilities, or those requiring early intervention services.
- Assist with homework, and additional public school assignments.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Assist with maintain records including attendance, and any necessary required North Carolina state reporting.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding child welfare, progress, and development plans.
- Supervise classroom activities during childcare hours, ensuring safety and compliance with childcare regulations.
- Lead staff meetings, mentor new teachers, and contribute to curriculum development initiatives.
- Ensure to follow all DCDEE, and state rules, an regulations regarding childcare.
- Continued willingness for professional development, trainings, courses, and mentoring.
- BILINGUAL preferred.
- Shift options vary as: 6:00am-12:00pm, 8:00am-12:00pm, or 2:00pm-6:00pm. Position may offer fulltime hours on school closure days, and summer/spring break.
Experience
- Proven classroom management skills in early childhood or special education settings.
- Experience working with diverse children
- Background in early childhood education across various subjects including literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
- Prior experience in preschool or childcare environments; private school experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, parents, and specialists.
- Knowledge of learning technology tools used in modern classrooms.
- Preferred completion of NCECC or EDU 119, or 111 and 112 or CDA or willing to obtain within 4-6 months
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds including toddlers, preschoolers, school aged children--including those with autism, developmental disabilities, or in deaf education.
