Are you the person insurance companies don’t want on the other side of the table? Have you spent years negotiating fee schedules on behalf of dental practices—and winning? Do you know how to build the systems and vendor partnerships that turn insurance from a practice’s biggest headache into a strategic advantage?
The Dentist Entrepreneur Organization (DEO) is looking for a battle-tested insurance negotiations expert to coach our members, manage vendor relationships on their behalf, and help us build a best-in-class insurance platform for the DEO community.
DEO is the leading coaching and leadership organization for growth-minded dental entrepreneurs. With a network representing thousands of practices, we help dental leaders scale smartly and sustainably—through community, education, and elite executive coaching.
The Role: Insurance Negotiations Coach
As a DEO Insurance Negotiations Coach, you will work directly with dental practice owners, group leaders, and DSO executives who are leaving money on the table with their insurance contracts. Your mission: to equip them with the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to renegotiate fee schedules, optimize their payer mix, and reclaim revenue that’s being eroded by stagnant or below-market reimbursement rates. But you won’t just coach from the sidelines. You’ll also play a key role in building DEO’s insurance negotiation platform and managing relationships with insurance vendors and negotiation firms on behalf of our members—creating a centralized resource that gives the entire DEO community leverage they could never get on their own.
Insurance Negotiation Expertise: A demonstrated track record of successfully negotiating higher fee schedules with major dental insurance carriers (Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, United Healthcare Dental, Aetna, Guardian, and others). You know what works and what doesn’t.
Carrier Fluency: Deep understanding of how dental insurance companies operate—their reimbursement methodologies, network strategies, credentialing processes, and fee schedule structures. You speak their language.
Vendor & Partner Management: Experience working with insurance negotiation firms, credentialing services, and other third-party vendors. You know how to evaluate partners, negotiate terms, hold vendors accountable, and build relationships that deliver consistent results for your clients.
Platform-Building Mindset: Experience building or scaling an insurance negotiation function, program, or system—whether inside a DSO, a consulting firm, or a benefits organization. You think in terms of infrastructure and scalable solutions, not just individual negotiations.
Fee Schedule Mastery: Expertise in analyzing and benchmarking fee schedules, identifying below-market rates, and building a data-driven case for increases. You can translate UCR data and market analysis into actionable negotiation strategies.
Revenue Cycle Insight: A strong working knowledge of how insurance reimbursement connects to the broader revenue cycle—from credentialing and claims submission to appeals and write-off reduction.
Practice-Level Perspective: Experience working within or on behalf of dental practices or DSOs. You understand the real-world impact of fee schedules on production, collections, and profitability.
The Coach’s Heart: A genuine passion for teaching and empowering dental entrepreneurs. Prior coaching experience is a plus, but we will train the right expert who loves helping others take control of their insurance revenue.
Fee Schedule Audits & Strategy: Guide DEO members through comprehensive fee schedule reviews, identifying gaps and building carrier-specific negotiation plans.
Negotiation Coaching: Teach members—step by step—how to approach insurance companies, present their case, and secure higher reimbursement rates. Provide scripts, templates, and real-world frameworks.
Build the DEO Insurance Platform: Play a central role in designing and launching DEO’s insurance negotiation platform—a shared resource that connects members with fee schedule benchmarking data, negotiation tools, carrier intelligence, and best practices at scale.
Vendor Partnership Management: Vet, onboard, and manage relationships with insurance negotiation firms, credentialing companies, and other vendors on behalf of DEO members. Negotiate group rates, set performance standards, and ensure our members get priority service and superior outcomes.
Payer Mix Optimization: Help members evaluate their insurance participation decisions, including when to stay in-network, when to drop a plan, and how to navigate out-of-network strategies.
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the DEO coaching team to build the “Insurance Mastery” pillar of our curriculum—developing playbooks, toolkits, workshops, and training modules that scale across the membership.
Cohort & 1:1 Coaching: Lead small group cohorts and individual sessions focused on insurance strategy, sharing real case studies and proven negotiation tactics.
Industry Intelligence: Stay current on carrier policy changes, reimbursement trends, and regulatory shifts in the dental insurance landscape, and keep our members ahead of the curve.
