Duties
- Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history and documenting symptoms accurately
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures within outpatient or inpatient settings
- Support clinicians with procedures including medication administration, and basic life support when needed
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters and treatment plans
- Conduct ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for diagnoses and treatments to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring a welcoming environment
- Support hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or clinic operations with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Assist with clinical tasks related to dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, or medical-surgical specialties as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas.
Skills
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology across various specialties such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and outpatient clinics
- Experience working in hospital settings including Level I or Level II trauma centers; familiarity with inpatient care protocols is preferred
- Proficiency with EHR systems for accurate documentation and coding; knowledge of ICD coding is essential
- Ability to perform intake assessments, vital signs collection, and basic medication administration confidently
- Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and basic life support certification required
- Experience with X-ray procedures or assisting in surgical environments like the OR is a plus
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU settings
- Familiarity with hospital experience in medical-surgical units or internal medicine clinics enhances your effectiveness in this role
