Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders and established protocols, including IV infusions and catheter care.
- Manage airway devices such as ventilators and assist with tube feeding procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection, and processing to support accurate medical diagnoses.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, infectious diseases, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in settings like long-term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, or outpatient clinics.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation to uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
Experience
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations across multiple healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, trauma centers, emergency rooms), medical-surgical units, outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms for accurate documentation and patient data management.
- Hands-on experience with advanced nursing procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, first aid, airway management, and infection control practices.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), medication administration protocols, and long-term care regulations is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays enhances your ability to deliver personalized patient-centered care.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy knowledge, pain management strategies including acute pain management techniques, and geriatrics is essential for success in this role.
