About Us
At Great Lakes Wastewater (GLW) — the parent company of A&J Sewer Service and Tidy Tank Plumbing, Sewer & Septic — we’re on a mission to elevate the sewer and septic industry by delivering exceptional service with professionalism, quality, and transparency.
Our core values — Professionalism, Customer Experience, Technical Expertise, Employer of Choice, and Growth Oriented — guide everything we do. From serving customers with respect, to developing highly skilled technicians, to creating long-term career opportunities, we’re building a business that people are proud to work for.
The Role
We’re looking for a Service Manager to lead and develop our team of plumbing, sewer, and septic service technicians.
This role is responsible for building a high-performing service department that delivers an exceptional customer experience, consistently follows our service and sales processes, and helps customers make informed decisions about their homes.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional coach, trainer, and team builder who understands how to develop technicians into trusted in-home service professionals. You will spend significant time working directly with technicians through individual coaching, structured training, field ride-alongs, and ongoing performance feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach every technician individually. Conduct consistent one-on-one meetings focused on performance, development, accountability, and career growth.
- Build a culture of continuous training. Lead engaging weekly training sessions covering customer communication, service processes, technical presentation, sales skills, and objection handling.
- Lead from the field. Complete regular ride-alongs to observe performance, provide real-time coaching, and ensure our standards are consistently delivered in customers’ homes.
- Create a consistent customer experience. Ensure every technician follows a professional, consultative, and process-driven approach.
- Build a winning team. Develop trust, accountability, confidence, and a shared commitment to serving customers at the highest level.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success leading, coaching, or training teams.
- Strong background in consultative selling, preferably within plumbing, HVAC, electrical, home services, restoration, pest control, remodeling, or a similar residential service industry (although not required).
- Proven ability to improve performance through one-on-one coaching, classroom training, role-playing, and field observation.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Process-oriented, organized, and committed to consistent execution.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build trust while maintaining clear accountability.
