Position Summary:
The Fleet Supervisor coordinates and oversees the daily operations of our transportation network, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of passengers. This role directly manages drivers, dispatch schedules, and fleet compliance while strictly enforcing local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The ideal candidate combines hands-on logistics expertise with strong leadership skills to minimize operational costs, manage driver performance, and resolve transit disruptions in real time.
Core Responsibilities
· Oversee the daily routing, driver assignments, and dispatch activities to guarantee optimal efficiency.
· Transport clients safely and reliably to and from scheduled appointments, ensuring a cost effective approach to route planning.
· Check the daily schedule for newly assigned trips, maintain daily vehicle schedules and accurately update changes, cancelations and kickbacks.
· Participate in the weekly on-call rotation and flex scheduled work hours as operationally required.
· Utilize Agency software for GPS tracking to monitor driver locations and ensure on-time performance.
· Handle real-time transit challenges, such as mechanical breakdowns, weather delays, and route adjustments.
· Partner with Transportation Specialists to streamline pick-up and drop-off issues.
· Enforce total compliance with DOT and OSHA.
· Ensure all vehicles undergo pre and post trip inspections, logging defects and coordinating with outside Agency mechanics for rapid repairs.
· Lead accident investigations, document root causes, and submit detailed reports to the Compliance Officer.
· Provide training for and assist with wheelchair transports.
· Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating drivers.
· Perform ride-along assessments to evaluate driver safety, professionalism, and adherence to fuel-efficient driving habits.
· Host regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to build a positive, safety-first culture.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED required; Supply Chain Management, or Business is highly preferred.
· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
· A valid, clear driver’s license is required.
· Exceptional problem-solving, active listening, and verbal communication skills under high-pressure scenarios.
· Occasional lifting up to 25-50 lbs., standing/sitting for extended periods, and assisting with vehicle inspections.
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
