All Shifts Part Time, every other weekend and alternating holidays

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and document regularly scheduled medications which the C.N.A./MED TECH is permitted to administer only after personally preparing the medication. Document the medications given on the MAR.
- Observe and report, to the charge nurse, reactions, and side effects of medications commonly administered to the residents.
- Take and record vital signs prior to administering medications that could change vital signs as ordered.
- After authorizations from the charge nurse prn medications may be administered. All Prn medications must be documented per state standards.
- May count narcotic medications with a charge nurse and document the count.
- Apply specifically ordered eye nose and ear medications as ordered.
- Practice or acts prohibited by the non-licensed nursing personnel C.N.A./MED TECH after completing the approved training program in medication administration.
- May not administer medications by the injection route. (Intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous, Intra-dermal. and hypo-dermoclysis.
- May not administer prn medications unless authorized by a charge nurse. The C.N.A/M must notify the charge nurse of symptoms indicating the need for prn medications and the time the symptoms occurred.
- May not administer medications used for positive pressure breathing (IPPB) treatments or other methods involving inhalation treatments.
- May not calculate any resident medication dose for administration. You may only administer the prescribed amount of medication.
- May not administer medication via a naso-gastric tube.
- May not apply treatment to broken skin.
- N.A/M must function in accordance with accepted pharmaceutical and nursing practices and as set forth in these standards:
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Use the photograph to identify the resident.
- Report all accidents observed on the shifts the day they occur.
- Use only authorized abbreviations established by the facility when recording information.
- Report all changes in residents’ condition to the charge nurse as practical.
- Update Kardex to reflect resident plan of care.
- Monitor for appropriate storage and control of medications on your unit.
- Assisting in training new staff.
- Monitor medications for automatic stop orders.
- Delegate assignments to the C.N.A. staff
- Give and receive reports at the beginning and end of the shift.
- Perform treatments for residents.
