We are seeking an experienced and motivated Underground Utilities Supervisor / Manager to oversee underground construction crews and daily field operations. This position is responsible for managing utility installation projects, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining production schedules, and delivering high-quality workmanship on every job site.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hands-on experience in underground utility construction, including water, sewer, storm, electrical, telecom, or gas infrastructure projects. This individual must be organized, dependable, safety-focused, and capable of managing crews, equipment, subcontractors, and project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate underground utility crews and field operations
- Manage daily project activities to ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, and within budget
- Read and interpret blueprints, utility maps, and project plans
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, municipalities, and subcontractors
- Enforce OSHA and company safety standards on all job sites
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings and equipment inspections
- Monitor production, quality control, and material usage
- Troubleshoot field issues and provide solutions quickly
- Ensure proper installation of underground utilities according to specifications and code requirements
- Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, and documentation
- Train and mentor field personnel
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
- Knowledge of excavation, trenching, utility installation, and heavy equipment operations
- Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL preferred but not required
- OSHA certification is a plus
