American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CA RN license, 2 years of CVICU experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
-
Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
-
CRRT, LVAD, and TNCC certifications preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of CVICU-specific experience, including recent experience within the last year
-
1:2 patient ratio experience required
-
1 year total travel nursing experience required, plus 6+ months of continuous recent travel experience
-
1.5+ years of continuous specialty experience with no breaks in unit type
-
Epic charting experience required within the last 6 months
-
Community hospital experience required
-
Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred

Skills required: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube assistance, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
-
Cardiovascular-specific skills required: CABG, IABP, Impella, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, LVAD/RVAD, epicardial pacing wire care, sheath removal, and pre/post cardiac cath care

ECMO care and nurse-driven ECMO protocols required
-
CRRT/CVVHD experience required for renal patients
-
Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
-
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
-
Cardiac monitoring including 12-lead EKG/ECG required
-
IV insulin protocol experience required
-
1 supervisory-level professional reference required
-
Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted with no additional requests after consideration
-
Provide direct patient care in the CVICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
-
Care for post-cardiac surgery patients both directly from the OR and post-transfer
-
Manage patients on ECMO, IABP, and Impella devices
-
Perform sheath removal and support cardiac catheterization/intervention procedures
-
May be required to float to like units or lower-acuity units across the health system's 5 hospitals in San Diego, excluding the ED
-
Float requirements apply at or below skillset for ICU, SDU, and Tele RNs
-
Work schedule includes 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle
-
At least one holiday, including the holiday weekend, coverage required
-
No first-time travelers considered for this position

Local candidates within a 100-mile radius are not eligible, except for LVNs/MAs
-
Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are considered local and ineligible
-
Returning staff and travelers may reapply after a 1-year separation
-
Extension policy allows up to 1 year, after which a 1-year wait is required before returning
-
International travelers must have at least 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
