Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, highly organized, and self-directed Part-Time Household Manager & Family Assistant to help keep a busy Walla Walla household running smoothly.
This is not a traditional nanny position and is not a role that relies on daily task lists. We are looking for someone who can independently assess what needs attention, create practical household routines, plan ahead, and take ownership of recurring responsibilities.
The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, keeping a home organized, managing multiple priorities, and helping reduce the mental load of day-to-day household life. Childcare may be needed occasionally, but it is not the primary focus of the position.
Responsibilities
- Independently plan and prioritize weekly household needs
- Create meal plans based on family preferences and dietary needs
- Grocery shop and keep pantry and household staples stocked
- Prepare lunches for the week and approximately three to four dinners
- Maintain a clean and comfortable home through routine cleaning and rotating focus areas
- Complete laundry, folding, and putting clothing and household linens away
- Keep the kitchen, pantry, and main living areas tidy and organized
- Notice household needs and address them without waiting for detailed instructions
- Handle errands, returns, household purchases, and small administrative tasks
- Help coordinate service providers, repairs, or household appointments when needed
- Provide occasional childcare, child transportation, or general family support
- Assist occasionally with pet care
- Help with seasonal and household projects, such as organizing storage areas or preparing outdoor items for seasonal changes
- Maintain privacy and handle family information with discretion
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in household management, family assistance, meal preparation, hospitality, office management, property management, professional organizing, childcare, or a related role
- Strong cooking and meal-planning skills
- Ability to work independently and create effective household systems
- Good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable cleaning, doing laundry, shopping, and completing varied household tasks
- Dependable, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a private home
- Clear and respectful communication
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a safe driving record
- Comfortable around children and dogs
- College coursework, a degree, or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus, but not required
- Strong references required
Schedule
- Part-time, approximately 12–16 hours per week
- Generally Monday through Thursday
- Schedule can be discussed based on household needs and candidate availability
- A minimum number of weekly hours may be guaranteed
- Occasional additional hours may be available
Compensation
Starting at $22–$25 per hour, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated ability to manage household needs independently. Higher compensation may be considered for an exceptional candidate with strong household-management and cooking experience.
Mileage will be reimbursed for approved household errands performed in the employee’s personal vehicle.

This position supports a local Walla Walla family seeking practical, consistent help managing everyday household responsibilities. We are not looking for formal or luxury household service. We are looking for a capable, down-to-earth person who takes pride in creating an organized, welcoming, and well-run home.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
