Daily Duties and Responsibilities
As a Sleep Coordinator at our dental office, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients with sleep disorders by coordinating their care and ensuring they receive the necessary diagnostic tests and treatments. You will work closely with physicians, patients, and other healthcare providers to streamline the sleep disorder management process and improve patient outcomes.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Patient Coordination:**
- Schedule appointments for initial consultations, diagnostic tests (such as polysomnography), and follow-up visits related to sleep disorders.
- Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain necessary authorizations for sleep studies and treatments.
- Educate patients about sleep disorders, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options.
2. **Administrative Duties:**
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all documentation is complete.
- Manage patient inquiries regarding appointments, test results, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with medical billing staff to ensure accurate billing and coding related to sleep disorder services.
3. **Collaboration:**
- Communicate effectively with physicians, sleep technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Assist in scheduling interdisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and treatment plans.
- Facilitate referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed.
4. **Patient Support:**
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to patients throughout their treatment journey.
- Monitor patient progress and compliance with prescribed treatments.
- Address patient concerns or questions regarding their sleep disorder management.
5. **Quality Assurance:**
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to sleep disorder services.
- Ensure adherence to established protocols and guidelines for sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of patient education materials and resources.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field (preferred not required).
- Experience in a medical or dental office setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of insurance procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

**Work Environment:**
- The role is primarily office-based, working regular business hours.
- Interaction with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff is frequent.
- Occasional flexibility in hours may be required to accommodate patient needs or special projects.
