Position Description
Calling all swimmers age 16 and up! Lifeguarding can be such a fulfilling job as well as making a positive impact in our community. Lifeguards ensure the safety of swimmers in the pools and enforce rules with members and guests for everyone's well-being. Lifeguards will provide first aid and respond to medical emergencies if needed.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be a strong swimmer. If not certified prior to hiring, certifications will be administered and fees covered by the Battle Creek Family YMCA if passed: CPR/AED; First Aid, Oxygen and Red Cross Lifeguarding.
Appearance & Behavior
- Report to work on time as scheduled
- Be in uniform and at your position when your shift begins
- Uniform includes: YMCA staff shirt, whistle, & hip pack
- Be professional, alert, courteous and diplomatic

Pay: From $13.73 per hour
