ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.

Ensure availability of supplies and equipment; process sterile instrumentation and equipment.

Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.

Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.

Assist in direct patient care when necessary.

Participate in call schedule.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education – 12-month certificate program or two-year associate degree in surgical technology.

Work Experience – One-year minimum working in an OR as a surgical technician or a new graduate from a scrub tech school or program.

Training – Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technician/Technologist program.

License/Certification – BLS required within 6 months of hire. Preferred - CST (Certified Sterile Technician)
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and staff. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds as part of routine duties.
