As a Professional Land Surveyor at Interstate Engineering, you will lead and support a wide range of projects serving private clients, municipalities, tribal governments, and state and federal agencies. From boundary and topographic surveys to construction staking and GIS mapping, you will bring precision, leadership, and problem-solving to every project.
This role combines technical expertise, mentorship, and relationship building. You will guide survey teams in the field and office, mentor technicians as they grow in their careers, and help strengthen client relationships that support the continued expansion of our survey practice.

Lead and oversee survey projects including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and GIS mapping
Conduct legal research and apply survey regulations for municipal, state, federal, and private clients
Utilize GPS, robotic instruments, and surveying software to support accurate data collection and project delivery
Supervise, mentor, and develop survey technicians to strengthen team capabilities
Ensure quality and accuracy of survey work performed by your team
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and partners
Support the continued growth of Interstate Engineering’s survey practice

FEMA survey requirements
Department of Transportation (DOT) surveying
Registered Land Surveyor in South Dakota or ability to obtain within six months
Associate degree in Surveying or a related engineering program
Minimum of six years of land surveying experience
Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
Experience supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
