Hlub Hmong Center is working with parents and caregivers of children with IDD for a new program. The program provides a Hmong Parent Support Group, works with Regional Centers to improve access to services, and coordinates a Learning Community where parents and providers can learn and help each other.
Our staff and parents are hiring a Program Coordinator to help Hmong families.
Responsibilities. The Program Coordinator supports parents and staff by:
1) Organizing documents, schedules, and materials
2) Helping to plan and implement social and educational events
3) Recruiting and raising awareness for the program
4) Helping collect data and evaluate the program
5) Helping with other duties as needed for a successful program
The best candidate is committed to improving the quality of life for Hmong children with IDD and their families, has excellent project management and communication skills, and works well independently.
- Most of the work takes place in Sacramento (with occasional trips to Stockton and Merced)
- You work from your home, and drive to meetings and events 4 to 6 times per month
- Depending on your skills and interests, you can work as a part-time employee or as an independent contractor
- The project requires between 10 and 30 hours per week, usually during daytime hours, with some evenings and weekends to reach parents and caregivers
- Pay is $25 - $35 per hour, based on skills and experience
Requirements
- At least one year of experience caring for a child with IDD. This can be as a relative, a volunteer, or as part of a job.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in Hmong
- Experience with office or project management, computer and technology skills (web, apps), and organizing and implementing small group activities and events. This can be in work, volunteering, or family life.
- Strong ability to work independently and complete work on time.
- Strong communication skills, especially within the Hmong community (e.g., families, clan leaders, Hmong cultural leaders)
- Must be eligible to be employed in the United States
- Must be able to complete a background check, which may include criminal history, driving records, drug testing, credit history, employment and education verification, and professional license verification
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to serve parents. Most parent support occurs in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Must have own reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance to complete duties as needed
