Overview
Lone Star Engineering and Testing Laboratory is growing and looking for applicants to join our team as a Geotechnical and Construction Materials Testing Lab Technician. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the quality, safety, and durability of construction projects by performing laboratory tests on soil and aggregate, concrete, and hot mixed asphalt samples. Duties
- Conduct laboratory testing on physical, index, and chemical properties on construction material and geotechnical samples.
- Assist with equipment calibrations and laboratory maintenance.
- Obtain and maintain relevant certifications.
- Work as part of a team to meet project deliverable deadlines.
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients and other Lone Star personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Prior laboratory experience in construction materials laboratory testing or related fields is not required but is a plus.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to read and follow ASTM and TxDOT quality control test procedures.
- Ability to collect detailed data and maintain written records.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other lab personnel.
The functions of this position will regularly require the employee to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee will regularly be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds (with or without assistance from others). The work environment for this position includes potential exposure to noise, fumes, dust, vibration, and chemicals which require the employee utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures. At times the work environment will be loud. This position requires daily procedures that rely on tactile competence and dexterity as well as vision abilities to include close vision, color vision, and focus vision.
