Hab It Your Way is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Direct Support Professional to support autistic adults in their homes and throughout the community. We are looking for someone who goes beyond simply providing care—someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping individuals reach their full potential.
This position is ideal for someone who is confident supporting individuals with behavioral challenges and is passionate about promoting independence, healthy living, and community inclusion.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one support to autistic adults in home and community settings.
- Develop creative and meaningful community activities based on each person's interests and goals.
- Encourage healthy lifestyles through exercise, nutrition, and positive daily routines.
- Teach and reinforce independent living, social, and communication skills.
- Use proactive behavior support strategies to prevent and safely de-escalate aggressive or challenging behaviors.
- Build trusting relationships with the individuals you support while maintaining professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Complete accurate documentation in accordance with agency and ODP requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting autistic adults is required.
- Experience preventing and safely de-escalating aggressive or challenging behaviors is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to transport individuals in the community.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required background clearances, certifications, and trainings.
