Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate TEMPORARY-Resident Activities Coordinator to energize and enrich the lives of residents in our assisted living community. This role is vital in creating engaging, meaningful activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and execute a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions and social events.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities that support residents’ cognitive and physical health needs, especially those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, and personal care when needed during activities.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while accommodating individual preferences and special needs.
- Foster an inclusive environment by working closely with residents with disabilities or memory care requirements, ensuring their participation and comfort.
- Maintain detailed records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve programming quality.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members about upcoming events and individual activity plans to promote engagement.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities or nursing homes, with a focus on senior care or memory care environments.
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and aging issues counseling to tailor activities appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills to connect empathetically with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs during activities while ensuring safety and dignity.
- Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple events seamlessly throughout each day.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and working with individuals with disabilities to promote independence and enjoyment.
