The Shop Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, testing, and preparation of oilfield tools and equipment to ensure they meet company and customer quality standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by maintaining safe, reliable, and ready-to-run equipment while upholding the highest standards of workmanship and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspect, clean, repair, and service oilfield equipment in accordance with company procedures and customer specifications.
- Disassemble and reassemble tools, replacing worn or damaged components as necessary.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, pressure testing equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare rental tools and equipment for shipment to customer locations.
- Receive returned equipment, perform post-job inspections, document findings, and initiate necessary repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on shop equipment and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, customer requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking, identifying, and organizing parts and materials.
- Support machine shop, inspection, and assembly operations as workload requires.
- Work effectively with supervisors, machinists, field personnel, and other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and safety.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in an oilfield service shop, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or mechanical repair environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use precision measuring tools and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read work instructions, equipment drawings, and basic technical documents.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Basic computer skills for completing electronic work orders and inspection documentation.
