Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and products are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires a keen understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and negotiation skills to maintain optimal inventory levels while fostering strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various ERP systems and possess a solid background in purchasing and materials management.
Duties
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize procurement processes.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and pricing to secure favorable terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and AS400 for effective materials management and procurement activities.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
- Oversee logistics related to the supply chain, ensuring efficient delivery of goods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align purchasing decisions with overall business objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance metrics.
- Implement e-commerce solutions for streamlined procurement processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems including SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and AS400.
- Strong understanding of materials management, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and inventory management principles.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on procurement and sourcing strategies.
- Knowledge of supply chain management practices and logistics operations.
- Familiarity with contracts, pricing strategies, merchandising, and production planning.
- Ability to analyze data for informed decision-making in purchasing activities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control processes.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
