Position Summary
A new outpatient imaging practice in West Ashley is seeking a skilled PRN Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in an outpatient setting.
This is a PRN position with a current expected schedule of approximately 5–10 hours per week. Hours will be scheduled based on patient demand, and weekly hours may vary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform complete diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established protocols and imaging standards.
- Review patient histories, verify examination orders, and obtain all required diagnostic images and measurements.
- Provide professional, compassionate patient care while maintaining privacy, comfort, and safety.
- Accurately document examinations, upload studies to PACS, and communicate urgent or unexpected findings according to practice procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and proper operation of the ultrasound equipment and examination room.

- Complete and limited abdominal ultrasound
- Right upper quadrant ultrasound
- Renal and bladder ultrasound
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening
- Carotid duplex ultrasound
- Thyroid ultrasound
- Soft-tissue ultrasound
- Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound
- Transvaginal pelvic ultrasound
Additional examinations may be added as the practice expands.
Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Current ARDMS certification in Abdomen (AB)
- Current CPR or BLS certification
- Knowledge of ultrasound safety, anatomy, pathology, and imaging protocols
- Ability to work independently in a small outpatient setting
- Strong communication, organization, and patient-care skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- ARDMS certification in OB/GYN
- Registered Vascular Technologist certification
- Experience performing carotid duplex examinations
- Experience performing transvaginal pelvic examinations
- Familiarity with GE ultrasound equipment
- Experience using PACS and electronic medical records
Experience
- At least one year of diagnostic ultrasound experience preferred
- Outpatient imaging or private-practice experience preferred
- New graduates with strong clinical training and the required certification may be considered
Schedule and Availability
- PRN, based on scheduled patient appointments
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week initially
- Flexible weekday and/or weekend availability required
Compensation and Benefits
- $40 - $45 per hour, based on experience
- PRN position

- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds when necessary
- Manual dexterity required to operate ultrasound equipment
- Ability to push or reposition ultrasound equipment as needed
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
