Medication Technician (Med Tech) Responsibilities
As a Med Tech, you will assist residents with their daily care needs while ensuring medications are administered safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable regulations.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer medications to residents accurately and according to physician orders and established medication administration procedures.
- Document medication administration accurately and timely in resident records.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition, medication effectiveness, and potential adverse reactions, and promptly report concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
- Maintain appropriate medication storage, security, and inventory.
- Assist with medication ordering, receiving, and organization as assigned.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and other personal care needs.
- Provide compassionate assistance while promoting resident dignity, independence, privacy, and choice.
- Observe residents and promptly communicate changes in physical, emotional, or psychosocial condition.
- Maintain appropriate supplies and notify leadership when additional equipment or supplies are needed.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and resident care policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and other members of the care team.
- Work independently while contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Perform additional resident care duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Current Medication Technician (Med Tech) certification required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Previous experience in personal care, assisted living, senior living, or a similar healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration and documentation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident safety.
- Ability to provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
