We are looking for a responsible full time Maintenance / Recycle staff to maintain our Ottawa facility. 40 hours a week from the hours of 8am - 4pm. Off every Sunday and every other Saturday! It is important for this canidate to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian/cleaning role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative in this role. The will also be responsible for keeping up on our recycle and furniture pickups. Heavy lifting is involved. A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE is REQUIRED in order drive the box truck for pick up of furniture donations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure spaces are prepared for the day by taking out trash, clothing recycling, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- cleaning entrances
- Report major damages
- Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.)
- Help with Furniture pick ups and move outs
- Skills
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Familiarity with basic handyman practices
- Communicates in english
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
