Senior Caregiver / Personal Care Assistant
Location: South Indianapolis, IN
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Hours: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Pay: Up to $19 per hour
Assignment: Approximately 3 months, with potential for permanent placement
Experienced Caregiver Needed – South Indianapolis
We are seeking an experienced Senior Caregiver / Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide dependable, compassionate in-home care for an older female client located on the south side of Indianapolis, approximately 4.5 miles (about 12 minutes) from downtown Indianapolis.
This client is sharp, highly communicative, mobile, and very aware of her surroundings. She does not have cognitive decline. She needs assistance with activities of daily living and household tasks while maintaining as much independence as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caregiver who takes pride in providing professional, attentive, respectful, and dependable care.
Schedule
Full-Time | 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday:
- 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, or
- 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
This is initially a 3-month assignment, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position based on client needs, performance, attendance, and mutual fit.
Responsibilities
The caregiver will assist with personal care and daily activities, including:
- Bathing and shower assistance
- Dressing and undressing
- Grooming and personal hygiene
- Toileting assistance
- Incontinence care
- Ambulation and mobility assistance
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation
- Light housekeeping
- Laundry
- Changing linens and maintaining the client's living area
- Other appropriate household tasks related to the client's care and well-being
- Providing companionship and engaging respectfully with the client
- Observing and reporting changes in the client's condition or needs
- Following the client's established care plan and agency procedures
- Completing required care documentation
Required Credentials & Experience
- An active, unrestricted Indiana HHA or CNA credential is required.
- We are seeking an experienced caregiver with at least 5 years of professional caregiving experience, including previous home care and home health experience.
- Exception for Unlicensed Caregivers: Unlicensed caregivers may be considered only in exceptional circumstances. To be considered without an active Indiana HHA or CNA credential, the applicant must have 15+ years of verifiable professional caregiving experience working with a variety of clients, including experience caring for clients with similar needs and care requirements to those described in this posting. Pay scale for individuals with no active credential is different (lesser).
Applicants without an active HHA/CNA credential and without 15+ years of verifiable experience will not be considered for this position.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Reliable, Punctual and Personable
- Someone tech savvy who doesn't have issues clocking in and out consistently
- Someone who is able and willing to enter HOURLY care notes
- Has significant professional caregiving experience
- Has previous home care and home health experience
- Has experience assisting clients with ADLs and personal care
- Is comfortable providing incontinence care
- Is comfortable assisting with bathing and toileting
- Is willing to perform light housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, etc
- Is dependable and consistently reports to scheduled shifts
- Has reliable transportation
- Has strong professional references
- Can pass a fingerprint background screening
- Has a verifiable and strong employment history demonstrating strong work ethic
- Communicates professionally and respectfully
- Is comfortable working independently in a client's home
- Takes pride in maintaining a clean, professional appearance
Professional Appearance Required
Because you will be representing our agency in a client's home, professional presentation is required.
Caregivers must report to work wearing:
- Appropriate scrub top and scrub bottoms for every shift
- Clean, work-appropriate shoes
- Minimal jewelry
- Clean and professional personal appearance
