Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly to ensure cleanliness and availability for food preparation and service
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety standards
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work area by regularly cleaning surfaces, floors, and storage areas in compliance with health regulations
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, ovens, mixers, and other culinary tools
- Support meal preparation by organizing ingredients, assembling dishes, and adhering to recipe specifications
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure food safety and prevent cross-contamination
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy service times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or food service setting is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Basic culinary skills including knife techniques such as slicing and dicing
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen team members
- Experience with menu planning or food preparation is a plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment
