Duties
- Design and develop comprehensive curriculum and instructional materials aligned with adult learning principles and language proficiency standards.
- Deliver engaging online and in-person French lessons, adapting teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and learner needs.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies to facilitate interactive lessons, track progress, and assess learner outcomes.
- Implement classroom management techniques that promote respectful, inclusive, and productive learning environments for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Coach fellow teachers on instructional best practices, classroom management, and the integration of new learning technologies.
- Develop assessments, quizzes, and activities to evaluate student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
- Support literacy education initiatives, including working with students with visual impairments or hearing challenges such as deaf education or visually impaired education.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching French as a second language to adult learners in classroom or online settings.
- Strong background in curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning tailored for adult education.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and various learning technology tools used in modern language instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction based on individual learning styles and instructional needs.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, including bilingual or multilingual populations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts in English and French.
- Prior experience in tutoring or coaching teachers on instructional techniques is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education needs such as deaf education or literacy support for visually impaired students is a plus.
