We provide structural engineering services to developers, contractors, architects, property owners, municipalities, and crane companies on projects ranging from building renovations to some of the city’s most technically challenging construction operations.
A significant portion of our practice involves serving as the Engineer of Record for tower cranes, including the design of crane foundations, tie-in systems, support structures, and other temporary works. Our engineers contribute to projects that play a direct role in shaping the New York City skyline.
In addition to our crane engineering practice, we provide structural design services for new and existing buildings, structural rehabilitation, construction engineering, temporary structures, forensic investigations, structural evaluations, and special inspections.
We are seeking an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex structural problems, working independently, and leading challenging projects from concept through construction.
Position Overview
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead a variety of structural engineering projects while working closely with clients, contractors, architects, regulatory agencies, and fellow engineers.
This position requires sound engineering judgment, strong communication and project-management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
You will have the opportunity to work on both permanent and temporary structures, including high-profile tower crane engineering assignments requiring innovative, practical, and code-compliant structural solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects from initial design through construction.
- Design structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
- Perform structural analyses and prepare detailed engineering calculations.
- Design temporary structures, tower crane foundations, crane tie-in systems, support structures, and construction support systems.
- Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Review drawings and calculations prepared by junior engineers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, developers, crane companies, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct structural evaluations, field observations, and site investigations when required.
- Respond to field conditions, contractor questions, and design changes during construction.
- Ensure compliance with the New York City Building Code and applicable engineering standards.
- Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, client communication, and quality-control procedures.
- Contribute to the firm’s continued technical excellence and growth.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license required.
- Structural Engineer license is a strong plus.
- Minimum of eight years of structural engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation design.
- Experience with construction engineering, temporary structures, heavy lifting, or tower crane engineering is highly desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of the New York City Building Code, International Building Code, ASCE 7, AISC standards, ACI 318, and related design standards.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, Mathcad, and IDEA StatiCa.
- Revit experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with clients and project teams.
