Middle School Physical Science Teacher (8th & 9th)

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field
- Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in Middle Grades Science (5–9) or equivalent certification/eligibility certificate
- Minimum of 1–3 years of successful teaching experience preferred (middle school experience preferred)
- ESOL endorsement or willingness to obtain

- Strong understanding of middle school developmental needs
- Knowledge of Florida State Standards for Science
- Ability to design engaging, inquiry-based, and lab-centered instruction
- Strong classroom management and restorative practices
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Effective use of educational technology in a 1:1 iPad setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to fostering scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in life, physical, and earth sciences
- Develop engaging lessons that promote inquiry, experimentation, and real-world application
- Integrate cross-curricular literacy skills including scientific reading, data analysis, and evidence-based writing

- Conduct and supervise laboratory investigations in accordance with safety guidelines
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
- Maintain accurate and timely records of grades and student data
- Collaborate with grade-level and content-area teams to ensure curriculum alignment
Student Engagement & Classroom Environment
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Promote curiosity, collaboration, and scientific discourse
- Build positive relationships with students to support academic and personal growth
- Implement school-wide behavior expectations and restorative practices
Academic Support & Collaboration
- Participate in MTSS, 504, IEP, and Student Support Team meetings as needed
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs
- Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress
- Participate in data analysis and instructional improvement efforts

- Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move about the classroom and other buildings for extended periods
- Ability to supervise students in classroom, laboratory, and school settings
- Occasional participation in field trips and school events

Pay: $59,158.50 - $67,000.00 per year
