Job Summary
We are a 5-star on google orthodontic practice committed to excellence, and we are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-time Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support only one orthodontist in delivering exceptional patient care by assisting during procedures, managing patient flow, and ensuring the smooth operation of the orthodontic practice. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for our patients, especially children, while maintaining high standards of infection control and clinical excellence. This position offers the opportunity to grow within the company, and any training done will be by the orthodontist herself.
Practice is in the early stage of growth so it is a very peaceful environment with very pleasant patients. Position is for 2-4 days/week. Usually Tuesdays-Thursdays & 1 Sat per month for half a day.
Duties
- Assist orthodontists with chairside procedures, including placement and removal of braces, appliances, and retainers
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are followed
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when applicable
- Manage patient records using Greyfinch (a new cloud-based software) while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records confidentiality
- Provide patient education on orthodontic care, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions in an engaging manner
- When needed for coverage or on downtime, support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical histories.
- Monitor patient comfort during procedures to ensure a positive experience
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control standards specific to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry practices
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with familiarity in dental assisting techniques preferred but not required if someone has a great personality, an enthusiasm to learn & is a quick learner
- Knowledge of dental/orthodontic terminology & dental anatomy preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques in a healthcare environment
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards for pediatric patients
- Excellent communication skills suited for engaging with children and their families in a friendly manner
- Certification in dental/orthodontic assisting or equivalent; additional training in orthodontic procedures is advantageous
- Knowledge of medical imaging technologies including 3D scanners is preferred
- Spanish-speaking preferred
