Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing, multi-location organization and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the monthly close, and delivering timely financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position will serve as a key accounting resource across multiple locations and operational functions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong general ledger experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to independently identify and resolve accounting issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant looking to expand their leadership experience and gain greater exposure to financial analysis, operational accounting, and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with preparation and review of location-level income statements and operating reports.
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate meaningful trends and findings to Accounting leadership.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accounting activity complies with GAAP and established internal controls.
- Perform accounting activities related to fixed assets, reserves, deferred revenue, accruals, and other complex balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with accounting for operational transactions including repossessions, recoveries, charge-offs, and related activities.
- Support tax-related filings and reconciliations, including personal property taxes and estimated payments.
- Partner with operational leaders to research discrepancies and improve financial accuracy.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and strengthen accounting processes and controls.
- Support accounting system enhancements, implementations, and testing.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to Staff Accountants and other accounting team members.
- Provide backup support to the Accounting Manager and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with fixed assets, accruals, reserves, revenue recognition, and other complex accounting areas preferred.
- Experience supporting external audits and maintaining effective internal controls preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with accounting and operational teams.
- CPA, CPA candidate, or other relevant accounting certification is a plus.
