Job Overview
Barry Equipment is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Service Coordinator for our South Windsor, CT location. This role is ideal for a former heavy equipment technician or service professional looking to transition off the road and into a stable, in‑store position. The Service Coordinator will handle incoming service calls, assist walk‑in customers, create and manage work orders, and support the service department’s daily workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers (in-person, over the phone, and via email) by taking service calls inputting into the ERP system
- Create, manage, and update work orders in the company ERP system
- Support the service department by coordinating repairs, timelines, and customer communication
- Work closely with in-house technicians to ensure accurate job documentation and workflow
- Communicate repair status, timelines, and updates to customers
- Collaborate with the parts department to ensure required parts are available for repairs
- Coordinate with sales on timelines for equipment setups
- Assist warranty administrator
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service counter and customer area
- Stay informed on equipment models, product updates, and basic parts compatibility
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or mechanical service support
- Former technician experience strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with computers, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, manuals, and technical information
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with brands such as DEVELON, Bobcat, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, or Komatsu
- Experience with POS or ERP systems
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions:
- Store-based role with standard hours (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM)
- Occasional overtime during peak seasons or events
- Regular interaction with customers, vendors, and team members
