Position Overview
We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist to manage the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, components, and services that support manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for supplier relationship management, cost negotiations, inventory planning, and ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules.
The ideal candidate has experience purchasing raw materials in a job shop manufacturing environment and is skilled at managing supplier performance, delivery expectations, and cost-saving initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Supplier Management
- Source and purchase raw materials, components, and production-related supplies.
- Create and manage purchase orders while monitoring supplier deliveries and lead times.
- Build strong supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance using scorecards and key metrics.
- Resolve supply chain issues, including late deliveries, shortages, quality concerns, and pricing discrepancies.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the supply base.
Cost Control & Inventory Planning
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements to maximize value.
- Monitor inventory levels and support Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory strategies.
- Forecast material requirements and coordinate deliveries to support production demands.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
Reporting & Operations Support
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data.
- Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and inventory metrics.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure material availability and support business objectives.
Qualifications Required
- Experience purchasing raw materials in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a job shop or custom manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing suppliers, including vendor performance scorecards and KPI tracking.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (JobBOSS a plus).
- Knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting, and supplier development.
- Manufacturing purchasing or supply chain experience.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
