Primary Role: To further the mission of Garrett Williamson by working with the Child Care Director to inspire a team of Early Childhood Professionals, participate in center management through hands-on leadership and create high-quality student learning experiences.
Immediate Supervisor: Child Care Director
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with Child Care Director and implement strategies to maintain the day-to-day operations of the center
- Work with Child Care Director to meet and maintain Pennsylvania Department of Human Services state licensing requirements and Keystone Stars Accreditation standards for child care settings
- Serve as the Education Director for classrooms licensed by the Department of Education (DOE).
- Ensure lesson plans are developed and implemented based on the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards
- Ensure teachers document observations regarding children’s development and complete associated checklists and assessments throughout the year
- Ensure students are properly supervised and engaged at all times, including transition periods, while maintaining state regulated ratios
- Work with teachers to develop and implement curriculum, manage student assessment strategies, and ensure that students are meeting all relevant standards and benchmarks
- Establish positive relationships and communications with families from the time of the initial center tour to create high-quality learning experiences for each individual child
- Build a strong early learning team in coordination with the Child Care Director and lead staff in implementation and continuation of developmentally appropriate practices with children
- Assume Child Care Director's responsibilities in the Director's absence
- Fulfill all record keeping responsibilities with regard to student files and any other record keeping under the purview of Assistant Director
- Attend preapproved professional development
- Teach and/or provide coverage in classrooms as needed
- Create and maintain positive business and working relationships with all stakeholders, including without limitation supervisors, co-workers, families, campers, vendors and the community
Required Skills, Experience and Professional Development:
- BA or BS in Early Childhood Education or related Human Services field
- Current PA teaching certification that includes the authorization to teach Kindergarten required.
- Must meet all requirements outlined by the Department of Education regarding the role of Education Director including but not limited to: Certification in Early Childhood or equivalent, completion of the “New Director Seminar” within six months of starting the job
- Proficiency in computer skills and related word processing, data management, and computer software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to respond well to unusual or crisis situations
Other Job Duties:
- Coordinate outreach programs for families in need
- Assist in developing and following an annual budget
- Attend and participates in staff meetings, center events and parent-teacher conferences as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds, listen to others, observe others’ actions and take corrective actions, when necessary, read text and information; comprehend instructions and manuals. It also requires the physical ability to move about the property in various environmental conditions.
Pay: $58,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
