For more than 100 years, Scouting America has helped young people develop leadership skills, character, and confidence through engaging programs and life-changing experiences. We are seeking a motivated, relationship-focused professional to serve as a District Executive and support the growth and success of Scouting programs throughout the local community.
This position offers the opportunity to build community partnerships, lead volunteer engagement efforts, support youth development initiatives, and contribute to a mission that creates positive outcomes for young people and families.
As a District Executive, you will:
- Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, educators, businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to deliver quality youth programs.
- Grow membership through community outreach and recruitment initiatives.
- Collaborate with volunteers to organize and promote local Scouting events and activities.
- Lead fundraising campaigns and cultivate donor relationships to support Scouting programs.
- Ensure volunteers have access to training, resources, and ongoing support.
- Support achievement of district goals related to membership growth, fundraising, program delivery, and volunteer engagement.
- Represent Scouting America at community events and public presentations.
- Provide exceptional customer service through timely communication and effective relationship management.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while working independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in sales, fundraising, nonprofit leadership, community outreach, marketing, business development, or volunteer management.
- Ability to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Professionalism, integrity, creativity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Comfort with public speaking and facilitating meetings or training sessions.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends to support meetings, activities, and events.
- Ability to travel periodically for professional training and development.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to meet Scouting America leadership and membership standards.
- Successful completion of criminal background, motor vehicle, and reference checks.
A Scouting background is helpful but not required.
