Dolce Vita Coffee Company is an Italian-inspired neighborhood coffee shop focused on serving high-quality Italian-style coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, pastries, and light food in a warm, friendly, and efficient environment. We are currently hiring for Barista / Cashier positions. Barista experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who has a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
Position Overview
The Barista / Cashier is responsible for preparing and serving coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and other menu items in a primarily to-go café environment. This role also includes cashier duties, customer service, stocking, cleaning, inventory updates, and general support of daily café operations.
The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, organized, able to multitask, and committed to creating a great customer experience every day.
Positions Available
Full-Time Schedule
- Monday through Friday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday : 5 PM – 8 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Applicants should be available for the schedule associated with the position they are applying for. Compensation is $9.00 per hour plus tips.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Cashier Duties
- Greet customers warmly and professionally.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash, card, and digital payments.
- Answer customer questions about coffee drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and menu items.
- Maintain a friendly, helpful, and positive attitude with customers and team members.
- Ensure every guest receives prompt and courteous service.
Coffee & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve coffee drinks, including drip coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, iced drinks, cold brew, chai, teas, and seasonal beverages.
- Follow Dolce Vita recipes and preparation standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
- Keep the espresso machine, grinders, coffee station, and beverage prep areas clean and organized.
- Learn and follow proper drink preparation and food safety procedures.
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare, heat, and serve breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, pastries, and other café food items.
- Support a fast and efficient to-go food service environment.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation practices.
- Ensure food items are served fresh, neat, and according to Dolce Vita standards.
- Assist with packaging food and drinks for takeout orders.
Stocking & Inventory
- Restock cups, lids, syrups, milk, coffee beans, pastries, sandwiches, paper goods, and other supplies.
- Monitor product levels throughout the shift and communicate shortages.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
- Update inventory as required.
- Help maintain an organized back-of-house and storage area.
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment.
- Clean counters, equipment, tables, floors, restrooms, display cases, and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and equipment as needed.
- Follow daily opening, closing, and shift cleaning procedures.
- Comply with food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
Teamwork & Daily Operations
- Work cooperatively with other team members to keep operations running smoothly.
- Assist wherever needed during busy periods.
- Communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
- Follow Dolce Vita policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Show up on time, prepared, and ready to work scheduled shifts.
Qualifications
- Barista or café experience preferred, but not required.
- Food service, restaurant, retail, or cashier experience is a plus.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and responsible.
- Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and procedures.
- Comfortable handling money and using a point-of-sale system.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies as needed.
- Must maintain a clean, professional appearance.

Training
Barista experience is preferred, but Dolce Vita will train the right person. Training may include:

- Dolce Vita customer service expectations.
