Reach To Win Youth Home & Family Services is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Medical Biller with demonstrated expertise using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) billing system. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who understands behavioral health billing and can accurately process claims while ensuring compliance with county, state, and Medi-Cal requirements.
Candidates with previous billing experience for behavioral health agencies within Contra Costa County are strongly preferred.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Medical Biller is responsible for the timely and accurate submission, monitoring, reconciliation, and follow-up of behavioral health claims processed through the Epic EHR system. This position plays a critical role in maximizing reimbursement while maintaining compliance with all applicable billing regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Process behavioral health claims using the Epic billing system.
- Review documentation for billing accuracy and completeness.
- Submit claims and monitor claim status.
- Resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Reconcile payments and prepare billing reports.
- Maintain compliance with Medi-Cal, county, and payer billing requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve billing issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.
Minimum QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health medical billing experience.
- Hands-on experience using the Epic EHR billing system.
- Experience submitting and managing behavioral health claims.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal behavioral health billing requirements.
- Strong understanding of claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
Candidates with the following experience are strongly preferred:
- Previous experience billing behavioral health services through Epic for Contra Costa County Behavioral Health or a Contra Costa County behavioral health provider.
- Familiarity with Contra Costa County behavioral health billing workflows, documentation requirements, and reimbursement processes.
- Experience working with county-contracted behavioral health organizations.
- Knowledge of California behavioral health reimbursement regulations.
