ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- May function as an on-duty security officer.
- Respond to all security and emergency calls during shift.
- Assist in establishing security policies and procedures.
- Orient and train security staff at respective sites of responsibility as needed and complete training documentation.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance of staff.
- Assist in maintaining security schedule and assure timely reporting for duty of officers.
- Duties pertinent to site specific requirements will be assigned, including, but not limited to Lost & Found, equipment/vehicle maintenance tracking, and maintenance of security systems.
- Assist with security officer needs as a liaison to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
- Helps establish operational procedures for security activities such as traffic control and security of physical property,
- Assist with supervising the daily function of security
- Assure daily completion of security logs/reports by all staff and review logs/reports daily
- Assist with administrative duties, as assigned, such as payroll and data collection.
- Investigate security incidents as assigned
- Assist with performance reviews for applicable security partners.
- Assist in establishing and meeting performance improvement goals for the security department.
- Conduct security training as requested.
- Maintain knowledge of access control and surveillance systems
- Assures accuracy and efficiency of security officers in performance of assigned tasks
- Takes initiative to greet all patients, visitors, and Mercyhealth partners in a timely, professional, and courteous manner projecting an open and friendly attitude.
- Checks grounds and areas for cleanliness and safety.
- Notifies maintenance staff concerning need for repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment through initiating a work order.
- Assist with completion of fire drills and other drills as requested
- Where appropriate, monitor the Mercyhealth environment using electronic security equipment (CCTV, Alarms, etc.)
- Is required to assure and/or request partners and contractors display Mercyhealth badges or required proof of identity.
- Duties pertinent to site specific requirements will be assigned.
- Coordinate and conduct applicant interview as needed for potential partners.
- Work in time keeping system when required.
- Periodically assist in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and other materials for meetings. Makes necessary arrangements and notifies attendees. Compose, type, and distribute meeting minutes, routine correspondence and other related materials as requested.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
At least one year of healthcare security experience required.
At least one year of Mercyhealth Security Experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Must possess the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Security officer certification.
Must successfully complete the IAHSS Supervisor Course within 180 days of start date.
Successful completion of all department required training such as Level 3 TACT training, handcuffing, OC spray, ASP baton, and physical control tactics training, etc. required within 12 months of start date. Must maintain this proficiency on an annual basis.
Must maintain a valid driver's license and proof of valid vehicle insurance.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth’s HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic Computer skills preferred; Word/Outlook/Excel
Able to interact with customers and communicate clearly
Able to manage anger, fear, hostility and violence from others while following Mercyhealth principles of customer service
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION
Work is performed according to specific procedures and post orders, but the incumbent must make decisions using independent judgement required in order to adapt to non-routine situations.
SUPERVISES
Directly leads the daily activities of security, valet, and contract personnel, depending on location. This may also include overseeing daily activities of the Security Operations Dispatch Center as assigned.
PAY RANGE:
$20.18 - $30.28
