Lab Coordinator – Marlborough, MA
Winston Staffing is seeking three Lab Coordinators to support one of our valued healthcare clients in Marlborough, MA. These are full-time temporary/contract positions with the potential for permanent employment based on performance and business needs.
As a Lab Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting daily laboratory operations, specimen management, inventory control, documentation, and quality processes. This is an excellent opportunity for detail-oriented professionals who thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Weekend coverage required based on team schedule
- On-call availability up to two times per month
- Occasional overtime and holiday coverage as needed
Pay: $25-$30 hourly / weekly pay
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily laboratory operations and workflow.
- Assign, pull, verify, and prepare laboratory orders.
- Perform daily and weekly quality monitoring and quality control activities.
- Receive laboratory materials and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Coordinate specimen processing, storage, and shipment according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and submit supply requests as needed.
- Keep laboratory work areas organized, clean, and compliant with established standards.
- Maintain and update laboratory logs, databases, and electronic inventory systems.
- Draft and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) as assigned.
- Coordinate specimen pickups and deliveries with couriers and internal departments.
- Communicate operational issues, discrepancies, or compliance concerns to management promptly.
- Attend department meetings and assist with continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Support additional laboratory and administrative responsibilities as needed.
- Occasionally assist with building security procedures.
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred, or High School Diploma/GED with 3–5 years of related laboratory, healthcare, logistics, or inventory experience.
- Previous experience as a Lab Coordinator, laboratory assistant, specimen processing professional, or in a similar healthcare support role is highly preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and specimen tracking is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and laboratory operations is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures with accuracy and consistency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other computer applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the laboratory team.
